ABOUT US
THE LIVING LAND PROJECT was formed in 2005 by a group of local families who combined their land into the LIVING LAND FARM. Today our rice fields stretch up to the foot of the mountains north of Pong Van village and our rice planting follows the traditional wet planting methods but adopting new ways of grain selection and planting in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture. We act as a training site for students of the Northern College of Agriculture.
Whilst continuing to grow rice for our families, we also started to grow organic vegetables, recognising that there were better alternatives to the destructive use of the land with pesticides, herbicides and chemicals.
Today we supply the top hotels and restaurants in Luang Prabang with our organic salads, herbs and vegetables.
In response to growing interest from visitors we now offer the “Rice Experience” on our farm to small groups of guests who would like to learn more about the cultivation of rice and participate in some of the activities which involve the planting and harvesting of rice and various traditional farm activities on our busy farm.
We now also have our Terrace Restaurant, overlooking our rice fields and serving typical Lao dishes.
For guests who would like to stay overnight on the farm we have Homestay, in a simple traditional Lao house.
THE LIVING LAND FARM supports a wide range of community projects, from helping with village improvements to running English language classes for local children.
We welcome guests and promise you a fun and educational experience on our farm with our families.
